I got a little more done on the amp this afternoon. The grid and cathode circuits on both power stages are now wired and tied into the driver.
This is how it looks this afternoon.
On each power stage grid there is a 2kΩ grid stopper, a 470kΩ grid leak resistor, and a 0.10µf coupling capacitor tied back to the driver stage. On the cathodes there is the 470Ω, 5W cathode bias resistor and a 470µf, 50v cathode bypass capacitor. This was about all the wiring my back would let me get away with this afternoon.
Next I’ll turn my attention to the power supply and begin installing the large 500V JJ filter capacitors. The driver stages get an RC filter to drop the B+ voltage and isolate it from the power stages. Each power stage gets an LC filter and the main filter is a large CLC filter to do the majority of the smoothing work. This should be a very quiet amplifier with a nice wide and deep soundstage.
As always, questions and comments are welcome.
I like the reference pictures of the tube sockets. Thanks for taking the time to put them in the blog!
