This is just a quick post to let everyone know that I haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth. These last few weeks I have been dealing with some emergent health issues which have prevented me from getting out to my shop. But I have at least selected the wood for my Source Selector Unit/Preamp.
The wood I’ve chosen is a fine grained Bloodwood (Brosimum rubescens). This was one of the options a couple of years ago when I was making some decisions about what wood to use on the 6AS7 SET amplifier. The board is on the far left in this picture from the post Design Details back in November of 2020.
This is a tropical hardwood native to South America. It will darken somewhat with age but should retain some of the beautiful reddish-brown tone. It’s fairly dense and hard making it somewhat of a challenge with which to work. However, it should take joinery very well and provide a great looking and very sturdy chassis for the project.
When I get the chassis pieces laid out and milled I’ll post an update and let everyone see how it looks.
As always, questions and comments are more than welcome.
Best wishes Matt. hope that you feel better soon

Are you coming back soon?
Yes. I apologize for my extended absence. But my energies have been focused elsewhere.
I have another appointment with my doctor tomorrow, but overall things are improving. I should be able to get back to work on my projects soon. I ask for your patience.
thanks Matt.
All the best. I hope you get well soon. Looking forward to the next installment.
Likewise, Matt I hope you feel better. Thanks for the update.
