I got some time today to finish out the vacuum tube assembly of the source selector unit.
There wasn’t much to do but I finally got some time to finish it up. Here’s how it looks today.
This includes all the wiring and all the components except for the Rd dropping resistor in the power supply. It goes on the terminal strip on the right hand side, next to the rectifier socket.
I’ve decided that I’m going to perform the full DC checkout of this assembly still in the clamping fixture. I’m going to use some temporary cables to link the power transformer now installed in the chassis with the assembly. This will also serve as a checkout of the mains side of the power transformers and will allow me to check the meter driver board and the power indicator. On this assembly, I’ll tune in the value for the dropping resistor and check all the operating point voltages. I’m going to leave the AC checkout until the unit is installed. I’m relatively confident that if the DC checks go as planned, the AC checkout should be ok.
It’s been a few days but the project is moving along.
As always, comments and questions are welcome.
Always enjoy seeing the progress. Hope the testing goes well!
