It’s been a month since I posted about the new SET and I just thought I’d let everyone know that I haven’t forgotten about the project. The truth is, as the title says, life has gotten in the way. Most specifically, this month I started on a major project; I’m helping my daughter build a house.
As you can imagine, this is a major project that is also taking a large portion of my free time. There are short periods while we are waiting for one thing or another when I can get other work done. However, the grass keeps growing and normal chores are unwilling to hold off, so that does not leave large amounts of time for tube amp work.
And, just to prove that my sanity is slipping, I decided this month to build a new media server PC for my home. The physical build of this computer shouldn’t take too much time, but getting the server software working and all my media transferred to the new system and organized appropriately might take a little time. Since I’ll be running a Linux operating system on the server, and this is something I haven’t used in a few years, I’m anticipating a few hiccoughs along the way.
But don’t worry. Before you know it I’ll be back to work getting the SET completed and tested. I hope it’ll be worth the wait.
Linux is really the only way to be. Still, its a heck of a learning curve….all Unixes are. Trust me about that.
I say let your daughter build her own house ๐ My son couldn’t wait to be “on his own”. My wife and I let him find his way for a while….but yeah, I’d be building his house now too. Stupid parents.
I’m definitely anxious to find out more about your next build though. Please find some time…. Personally, I have a line on some 6B4G triodes and I’m super curious what all the fuss is about with these low power SE triodes. Could they really be that amazing?? I’m pretty impressed with my PP 6V6 and 6L6 amps and my SE 6AQ5 amp. Is there more? Show us!
